Set sail on thrilling adventures with Scourge of the High Seas, a board game where strategy meets excitement. Attack islands and merchants to collect valuable resources, then sell them for gold to grow your fortune. But beware, each successful raid adds a bounty on your head, attracting the relentless pursuit of the King's navy. Outsmart your opponents, balance risk and reward, and become the richest pirate on the seas to claim victory. Ready your ship and nerves for a high-stakes battle on the open ocean!

Scourge of the High Seas plays 3-6 players, or 2-players with an automaton included in the rule book. Game play lasts about 60-80 minutes for 4-players and up to 2 hours with 6-players. There are alcohol references, so age recommendation is 14+.

Gameplay

Scourge of the High Seas plays over 5 rounds that are broken up into 3 phases. In the first phase, players will roll for the wind direction, assign their crew in secret and then reveal their choices simultaneously. The person who assigned the most in movement will go first.

In the second phase players will take turns choosing one action per turn. They can move, attack, sell, or bury. This phase continues clockwise until all players either pass or run out of actions to do.

  • Movement is affected by the wind
  • Combat uses your crew tokens instead of dice to determine winners
  • Selling at markets affects the value of supplies for everyone at the table
  • Burying your gold keeps it safe from anyone trying to steal from you

The last phase is where the merchants, navy and bounty hunter move. Each group of ships move according to their rules and determine if a player gets caught. Then islands are restocked and the round marker moves to the next round.
